Two days around Davis and Sulphur, with waterfalls, living culture and time by the water.
Give each day a different purpose
The Arbuckles work well as a short break when you resist treating every stop as an essential. Davis is the useful starting point for Turner Falls and nearby food stops; Sulphur puts you close to Chickasaw National Recreation Area and the Chickasaw Cultural Center. Choose accommodation around the part of the region where you expect to spend most of your time.
This suggested weekend gives the waterfall one day and culture or a park walk the other. It is an editorial itinerary, not a timed driving route. Check your actual accommodation, arrival time and activity arrangements before deciding the order.
A Davis day: the falls and a food stop
Make Turner Falls the main event if the park is your priority. Settle admission and any overnight arrangements before travelling, and leave enough time to get from parking to the parts of the park you want to see. A visit for the scenery does not have to become a swimming day.
Add one stop from the Davis food guide on the way in or out. Plan a proper meal as well as a sweet treat, especially if the next part of the day involves an outdoor walk. Leave the evening open rather than setting another deadline.
A Sulphur day: culture, then a change of scenery
Build the second day around the Chickasaw Cultural Center when it is open. Its published schedule normally excludes Sunday and Monday, so a Saturday cultural visit may need to come first. Let the center’s own program guide the time you spend there.
If there is comfortable time afterwards, choose a modest Veterans Lake outing or return to your accommodation. For a nature-focused alternative, use the Travertine guide to combine the nature center with a suitable walk.
